Task 2: Magazines & Audiences Part 2

This music magazine shows simplicity and basic use of colour. This suggests that the magazine is aimed at an audience of young adult girls who wish to read purely for the music and not the glossy gossip. Due to the use of conventions the designer has used, the front cover develops the readers understanding with regards to who it has been made for.

Blender’s front cover is appealing towards an audience of young adults through the use of colour; the contrast and shades used are limited. Further to this, the picture of Leona Lewis plastered on the front cover also shows that the magazine is designed to be for people who may possibly follow Television shows such as The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

A numerous amount of conventions evidently prove who the magazine is aimed at. The masthead - which is sans serif - supports the reason to why the audience are young adults. Moreover, the sans serif masthead is unique to its owns style and is recognisable towards the multiple additions the magazine bring out. The cover line of the front page is also seen modern and easy to read. Another technique the designer has used is the left third. Like most magazines, what is consisted inside it is bulletined on the front cover. Even though some information is positioned on the left hand side, other information is situated on the right. This happens but it is more likely to come across a front cover with prime information on the left hand side. Because this magazine has situated information around the photo instead of over it, it upholds the simplicity and modern outlook of the front page which therefore appeals to a young audience.

Numbers are also consisted on the front cover for use of persuasion for the audience to buy the magazine. The numbers used are in relation to what songs you need to have at that particular time. This again backs up the evidence that the magazine is aimed at a young adult audience as they'd be determined to be up to date in the norms of today's society. Fundamentally, the numbers are also seen as plugs on the front page because they are advertising new songs that people must have as well as using the powers of persuasion.

The barcode and the price are usually found on the front page of the magazine so that people can quickly scan and see how much it costs. Even though a barcode is usually found on the front cover, it is relevant to whom the audience are as they would be looking out for the lowest cost possible.

To summarise, the magazine shows that the target audience are young adults through the multiple amount of conventions that show the simplicity and overall modern outlook. As stated in the third paragraph, the text font and the way it has been situated is a highly important aspect to how we are aware on whom the magazine is for. The analysis I have gathered is highly important to consider contributing towards my front cover as it is the best possible way of gaining an understanding on audiences.
